Died peacefully on Saturday June 15, 2024 at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood at the age of 80. Ron of Stayner, beloved husband of the late Sandra E. (2008). Dear brother of Sandra J. McDermid. Ron is predeceased by his parents Alex C. (1973) and Alice (2009) McDermid and his brother Allan (2014), Allan’s wife Ann (1992) and Ron’s dear friend Helen Pearson (2021). Ron was a caring man with a generous spirit. Growing up on the farm on the 6th Line of Nottawasaga, Ron understood hard work and commitment from a young age. He was a true entrepreneur. He established and operated McDermid Motors for many years. He had varied business interest throughout the region. He conducted his business with integrity and made many friends. Ron loved to be out of doors. The tranquility and peacefulness of his cottage allowed him to enjoy his hobbies of boating and snowmobiling. He also took time to travel. There are many fond memories of family trips to Florida and other locales. He will be missed. Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Stayner Chapel, 7313 Highway 26, Stayner from 11:30 a.m. on Thursday June 20, 2024 for the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1 o’clock. Interment to follow at Stayner Union Cemetery. If desired, a donation to the Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation or the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
