It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Jacquie Brandt, at 67 years old. Jacquie passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Hanover & District Hospital.
Devoted mother to Jennifer (Kevin) Malcolm of North York and Jessica (Andrew) Bugeaud of Elliot Lake. Cherished grandmother of Rachel and Kingston. Jacquie will be remembered by her mother, Lorraine Brandt of Mildmay and her siblings, Terry (Patty) of Milton, Jane (Doug) and Heather (Reg) of Walkerton, and Mike of Mildmay. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, along with many dear friends.
Predeceased by her father, James “Jim” Brandt.
From a young age, Jacquie was always very independent. She moved out of her family home as a young teenager and worked at Canada Packers prior to starting her career as a Correctional Officer at the Walkerton Jail in 1982. At that time, she was pregnant with her twin girls, and Jennifer and Jessica were born in May of the following year. As a single mom, Jacquie worked tirelessly to provide everything she could for her daughters, and they lacked nothing. Jacquie was a hard worker and respected by her colleagues. In 2015, she retired from the Elgin Middle Detention Centre in London, as a Sergeant, having been awarded many accolades during her career.
An avid reader and puzzler, you could almost always find Jacquie reading a book or working on a puzzle on her phone. If you looked nearby, you’d surely find an XL Tim Horton’s coffee. She absolutely loved her Timmie’s! She had a love for curling and the Toronto Blue Jays and refused to miss watching either on TV. She was an excellent cook and loved to prepare meals for her family. Her daughters and grandchildren will miss her famous meatballs, which she often prepared in huge batches so that they could be taken home to freeze for later. You’d always see a smile on her face, even up until the day she passed away.
Her greatest joy and pride was in her family who she will continue to live through each and every day.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare professionals at McVean Lodge and the Hanover Care Centre and to Jacquie’s sister, Jane, and a very special friend, Alicia Voisin. We are truly grateful for their exceptional care, kindness and support.
Cremation has been arranged and a private family interment will take place at a later date.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 12th, 2024, at Walker’s Landing in Walkerton. To receive event details and confirm your attendance, please RSVP below.
