SCHIRRU, Brigida –
Passed peacefully in her sleep, June 14, 2024, in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Angelo Schirru. The rock, the anchor, the provider of all that is FAMILY will be sorely missed by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Children- Enrico Schirru (Corena), Angela Marasco (Angelo), and Antonio Schirru (Teresa) were blessed to have this beacon brighten their path. Grandchildren- Alyssa Di Lallo (Robert) and Anthony Schirru (Georgina), Steffan, Ariana, and Nathen Marasco, Sonya and Eve Schirru, and Great Grandchildren- Roman and Simon Di Lallo, and Ada Schirru will proudly cherish and hold their Nonna close through their treasured memories.
Brigida immigrated from Italy to Canada September 1958 at the age of 14. Brigida’s innate sense of humor, quick wit, and knack for weaving stories with life lessons will never be forgotten. She could put a smile on someone’s face and tame a hungry belly by tapping into her reservoir of recipes that she somehow would whip up in an instant. It helped that she was always well-stocked, just in case someone needed a boost. She also shared that passion and flare for cooking with many patrons in the Welland community who sought fine Italian dining. Ristorante Angelo was forged by Angelo and Brigida, the only way they knew how… through their commitment to each other and their families. Brigida now rests with her beloved Angelo who has been watching over his flock since his passing in 2017. She joins him now and no doubt she will be close by- “La famiglia e tutto.” (The family is everything) was more than just words to Brigida- it was her Way, and our souls have been nourished by it!
The family will receive relatives and friends at H.L Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main St. Welland, on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 2:30 p.m to 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A Private Family (Prayer Service) will take place at a later date.
