Ron (Ronnie)
Targett was kind, generous, loving, intelligent,
good natured and one of the hardest working men you would ever
meet. He had a deep love for family and was a true gentleman
in every sense. He was a man of faith who
dedicated much of his time in various roles at the Christ Church
Parish Church. He served on the Vestry and he and Nelda coordinated
multiple fundraising dinners for the church. Ron
was an awesome card player, especially cribbage, he
also loved golf, curling and travel. He was the
original Magiver as he could repair just about anything.
Ron was a member of the Shriners as well as the Fredericton
golden club. Ron had a long career with SMT where he served as shop
Foreman until the maintenance depot was closed in
1978. He subsequently worked for the city of Fredericton at
the repair depot until his retirement at age 65. Ron had a
small business in the early eighties when he purchased three school
buses which he used for charters and school
runs.
Ron spent the last few
years of his life at Shannex, first in assisted living at Brunswick
Hall, then full nursing care at Frederick Hall due
to his declining health
related to Parkinson’s disease. The family
cannot express in words the amount of gratitude we have for the
amazing care that Ron received up to the last minute of his
life. The staff went above and beyond in their love and
compassion for this beautiful
man.
The family of Ron
Targett will gather at the Christ Church Parish Church lobby between
the hours of 10 and 11 AM on Friday , June 21, anyone
wishing to express personal condolences would be welcomed at this
time. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11
AM with Canon John Sharpe Officiating. Interment to be held next to
his wife in Forest Hill
Cemetery.
