Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Evelyn Grace Brown (June 15,1927-June 13,2024). Evelyn was originally from Southampton and resided in Oxford Junction for many years. She was a daughter of the late Clarence and Margaret (Rolfe) Gallagher. Evelyn was an integral staff member at Henley’s Pharmacy in Oxford for many years.
Evelyn thoroughly enjoyed both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the happiest whenever she had a little one to take care of and to play with. There was nothing Evelyn wouldn’t do to help her family. She spent many summers at Jackson’s Point caring for her great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included community volunteering and she loved word games and puzzles. Evelyn was active in many organizations including the Pythian sisters and the Rebeccas and travelled throughout Canada and the US representing them. She was especially interested in all things involving the Royal Family.
She is survived by her son, Ernie (Sharon); daughter, Sharon (Ed) Tattersall; grandchildren, Tim (Alana), Julie, Roxanne and Jen (Greg); great-grandchildren, Kier, Kessa, Kailer, Brittany, Jackson, Addison, Jacob and Caleb; great-great-grandchildren, Carter and Jace; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lyorlus; brothers, Chester, Winston, Curtis, Wylie, Kenny and George; sisters, Hazel and Margaret. The family would like to thank everyone at Medical Unit B at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm on Sunday, June 16, followed by funeral service at 2 pm, both in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium. Donations can be made to the Southampton Cemetery, Little River Baptist Church or charity of choice.
