GILBERT ELLIS
Gilbert was born to Alec and Bertha Ellis in 1939, and raised on the family farm, with sisters Fran and Jean.
Gilbert loved the country life. He spent his life working in agriculture jobs, including the family farm – and other farm related operations and repairing agriculture equipment.
He loved his Hereford cows and enjoyed working with them, fencing and generally being outdoors and being busy.
Gilbert and Wendy were married in August of 1965. They raised two girls – Joanne and Vicki and returned to the Erskine community to stay in 1983.
Gilbert and Wendy retired to Stettler – they spent many winters in warmer climates and enjoyed playing cards, golfing and cruises with friends.
They also enjoyed having a holiday trailer at a golf course near Sylvan Lake and stayed in contact with all these friends. They enjoyed being part of the community where they lived.
Gilbert spent his time curling, volunteering with various organizations, and helping friends and family. He loved doing jigsaw puzzles,
going for coffee, watching curling and rodeo on TV, spending winter evenings with Louis L’Amour and puttering in the yard.
But mostly loved having dessert with every meal!
He passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024 in Foothills Medical Center, Calgary, Alberta. His passing leaves a well of sadness with all who knew him.
Gilbert is survived by daughters Viki Ellis and Joanne (Mike) Nielsen and their daughter Michelle (Tyler) Leslie
grandchildren Layla, Eva and Henry, and sister Jean (Albert) Mappin and family, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
He was predeceased by his wife Wendy Ellis, parents Bertha and Alec Ellis and sister Fran Fahlman.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Stettler Funeral Home, Stettler, Alberta

Memorial Donations may be made to the Stettler Hospital Health Services Foundation, or S.T.A.R.S., or to a charity of choice.
