Deshaw: Eleanor (née Oakes) –
A resident of Thomson Line, Duart, Eleanor Deshaw passed away peacefully at home with family at her side at the on June 5, 2024 at the age of 94.
Born in Highgate, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Norman and Myrtle (née Ousterhout) Oakes.
Beloved wife of the late Elmer Deshaw.
Mother of the late Sharon Murphy (late Tom), Gwen Daily (Ken), Bev Ramboer, the late Doyle Deshaw, Colette Hind and Jane Deshaw.
Proud Gram to many grandchildren and Gigi to many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Predeceased by one grandson Ryan (2001).
Predeceased by her siblings, Howard, Dorothy and Ross.
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Eleanor was a proud patron of the Mary Webb Centre in Highgate. She will be remembered for her independent spirit, living life on her own terms.
As per Eleanor’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at St. Michael’s Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations made in memory of Eleanor to the MS Society, Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, the Mary Webb Centre, St. Michael’s CWL or St. Michael’s Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
