Dale Joseph Hood completed his earthly journey in Fredericton, NB during the early morning hours of Friday, May 31, 2024, with his beloved wife Maureen and their family at his side. Born on July 27, 1959 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Joseph Earl Hood and the late Emily Lillian (McHatten) Hood of Cross Creek, NB.
Survived by his wife Maureen (Munn), Dale was a devoted husband, a loving father to his son Donald Hood (Dana) and his daughter, Iris Munn (Philip); and a proud grandfather to Caleb, Moriah, and Elyanah. He cherished being “Grampie” to each of his grandchildren. His family was his greatest pride and joy and he loved them dearly. He took great joy and was uplifted when his family would gather together – it would always put a spring in his step.
Dale is also survived by his sister Sheila Carr (Terry); his nephew Adam Carr (Ashley) and great nieces Addison, Ashlynn, and Astella; his uncle Ray Hood (Paulette); his aunts Minerva (McHatten) Fullerton and Norma (McHatten) Warren; his sisters-in-law Sharon Sisco (Gerry); Phyllis Munn (Fred); and Ethel Somerville (Paul); his brothers-in-law Barry Munn (Karen); James Munn (Lois); and Gary Munn (Gloria); Sheila Keetch (Mike); and several nieces, nephews, cousins.
In addition to his parents, Dale was predeceased by two special cousins, an infant nephew, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
Dale devoted his life to his faith and his family, and he was dedicated to his work and service to his community. This is reflected in the many activities he committed his time to. He was a man of strong faith and supported his church wherever he happened to be at the time, serving in a variety of capacities.
Dale was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed shared experiences with his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, canoeing, camping, hiking, and 4-wheeling. He spent innumerable hours fishing the Nashwaak and Miramichi Rivers. Fishing and nature walks with his grandchildren were the highlight of many outdoor excursions.
Dale had a well-lived life and he leaves behind a legacy of love, a multitude of friends, and two generations who follow in his faithful footsteps.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all the dedicated medical professionals for their kindness and efforts while Dale was under their care: The staff of the New Brunswick Extra Mural Program, and the physicians and staff of Hospice House – Fredericton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Nashwaak Valley Pentecostal Church, 2265 Route 148 Highway, Taymouth, NB, on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 2-4 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 2 pm, with Rev. Michael Trail officiating and assisted by Rev. Jack Leaman.
