The family of Harry James Gibson are sad to announce his passing on Tuesday, May 28. 2024 in Drayton Valley at the age of 85 years. Harry chose to go out on his terms after his fourth and final cancer diagnosis. Harry is peacefully at rest.
Harry’s memory will live on in his wife of 62 years, Marilyn; his daughter, Holly (Sandy) and their children, Evan (Mira), Kyle, and Nicole; His son, Marty and his children, Elizabeth and Shea; sister Darlene, with other extended family.
Harry was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Helen Gibson; siblings, Walter and Sharon.
Harry was born on April 9, 1939 to Charles and Helen Gibson in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. Harry worked various jobs both in Saskatchewan and Alberta. He moved to Drayton Valley in 1978 and started operating his own tank truck that serviced the oil industry. In his leisure time, he loved all things outdoors including: gardening, hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a hard worker all of his life and took great pride in whatever he did. This was so evident in the many woodworking projects he made for family and friends.
At Harry’s request there will not be a formal funeral service. Harry will be cremated and laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery in Drayton Valley, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers a memorial donation in Harry’s name can be made directly to the Stollery Children’s Hospital, www.stollerykids.com/donate/
The family would like to thank Dr. Frobb, the nursing staff at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre for the compassion and care shown to Harry during his stay.
