Obituary For Don Oliver Kirstien
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Don Oliver Kirstien on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in smith, AB, at the age of 66.
Don was born in Oliver, BC, on August 4, 1957. His family moved to Dawson Creek, BC, where he lived until 1967 when his family moved to their farm in the Teepee Creek, AB, area. Don then moved to smith, AB.
Don went to work at the rapeseed plant (NARP) in smith then on to Weyerhaeuser where he worked at his operations duties until his retirement. Don was also an EMR and fire Captain.
Don participated in many sports such as hockey, football, softball, golfing, and curling. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his friends. He also enjoyed traveling.
Don is survived by his son Chase, sister Cindy, brother Joe (Brenda), as well as nieces, nephews and their families. He is also survived by Connie’s daughters: Kelli, Sarah Carli, Kirsten and their families. Don is also survived by his dog Dougal.
Don was predeceased by his mother Mary Hill, father Haina Kirstien, and loving partner Connie McKay.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 20, 2024, at 3:00pm at the Clairmont Curling Rink (9822-100 Ave Clairmont T0H 0W1).
