Josephine Morrell Obituary
Dearest friends and family, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beautiful mother Josephine. Jo passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 9, 2024, at Durand Manor in Golden, BC.
Jo is pre-deceased by; her parents, Bob and Irene; husband Carl; partner John; and son RJ. She is survived by; her children Sherrill, Heather, and Laurie; her sister Wendy; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Jo was born in Dartford Kent, England, to Bob and Irene Harmer on April 30, 1946. They later moved to Canada in July 1951.
Bob’s career as an Engineer with Parks Canada led them to reside in various communities within the National Parks across Canada during Jo’s childhood, leaving her with many cherished memories that she would often share with her family. In 1957 they settled in Revelstoke, BC.
Jo worked various jobs in Golden, and had a passion for knowledge and learning, later completing courses in office administration and medical office assistant and unit clerk. Jo battled and suffered a severe form of rheumatoid arthritis that forced her into early retirement.
Jo’s greatest joy was her family and friends. Having endured and overcome much, her love and devotion to her family never wavered. Unfortunately, Jo’s health continued to decline rapidly over many years and she fought with everything she had. Her strength and perseverance to never give up was undeniably incredible.
Jo’s passing has left us overwhelmed with immense grief and sadness, but it brings us some comfort to know she is at peace no longer suffering. Thank you to Janice, Karmela, and all of the amazing staff at Durand Manor for the love, compassion, and care you provided to Mum in her final years. Your kindness and sincerity will never be forgotten.
Jo is forever loved and remembered. In our hearts, you will always be.
