Noreen May Williston (nee O’Hara), born March 3, 1934 in Fredericton , wife of the late Melvin Williston. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Ella May O’Hara.
Noreen is survived by Terry (late Brenda Rickard), Tim (Nancy Lee) and Sandra, three grandchildren, Michael (Monica) Williston, Jeffrey Williston, Deanna (Sean) Morris and seven great-grandchildren;
Also survived by her sister Kathryn (late Storey) Morehouse, Gerald (late Bev) O’Hara, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by siblings Donald (late Lisel) O’Hara, Dorothy (late Angus) MacLeod, Paul (late Peggy), O’Hara, Jean (late Greg) Scott, Joan (late Bruce) Fleiger and Brian O’Hara.
She also had a good relationship with Mel’s family which included his father, mother and numerous brother and sister’s in-law (15 in all), and several nieces and nephews.
Noreen’s journey began in Barkers Point, where she first met Mel on the swings at the schoolyard. From that point on they built a life raising their three children. Noreen’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her own family as she became a beloved Brownie Leader. Her kitchen was a haven of delicious aromas, where she baked homemade bread and donuts that would bring smiles to the faces of all who tasted them.
Noreen and Mel loved the outdoors, and ignited a family tradition of camping adventures. Joined often by their niece Gail Estey, they created many treasured memories. As the nest emptied, Noreen and Mel’s thirst for exploration never waned. They traveled from east to western Canada , enjoying each new horizon discovered.
Their home in Barkers Point was a favourite gathering spot for the family where lively discussions and shared laughter echoed through the halls, creating cherished memories.
Today, as we bid farewell to Noreen, we celebrate a life well-lived, a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure that will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she may have journeyed beyond our sight, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, just as it always has.
As per Noreen’s request, there will be a burial service at 1:00 pm, July 20th (attended by close family only) and a celebration of life to follow for friends and family.
Donations to honour Noreen may be made to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation. (www.Dystonia Canada.org)
