In Loving Memory of
David Edward Parker
June 23, 1932 – May 18, 2024
It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of David Parker, formerly of Gore Bay,
at the Manitoulin Centennial Manor on May 18, 2024, in his 92nd year.
David is survived by his daughter Debbie Pink, (Dave), of Birmingham, England, granddaughters Justine and Matt, great grandson Jack; Lucy and Neil, great grandson Toby; Amy and Colin, great granddaughters Esme and Daisy;
and his son Paul of Oshawa.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Joan (nee Morrison) in 2019.
He was the eleventh child of Albert and Lillian, (Lea) Parker, both predeceased, of Birmingham, England, having had 7 sisters and five brothers. He served in the British Army in the 1950’s and came to Canada in the early 1960’s. Worked as a machinist and mould maker in the Pickering area, retiring to Gore Bay in 1992. He and Joan (and Paul) built the house on Lighthouse Road and travelled extensively in the United States, particularly Utah and Colorado. He and Joan were proficient in ballroom dancing and won many trophies in competitions in Canada and the United States. He proudly stated that they danced at the Waldorf Astoria!
David joined Doric Lodge No. 424, A. F & A.M. in Pickering, ON on February 19, 1976. He affiliated with Gore Bay Lodge No. 472 on October 9, 2003. He was installed as Worshipful Master on June 10, 2010.
As per David’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Manitoulin Centennial Manor Tree of Lights program, or a charity of your choice.
Honour David in your own way. Remember him when you cast a fishing line, step out on the dance floor, and or smell the sweet aroma of peonies.
A huge thank you to the staff of Manitoulin Centennial Manor for their loving care of David for the last 3 years, and especially in the last days of his life.
