Edward “Ned” Jardine
March 11, 1948 — May 18, 2024
Edward “Ned” Ivan Jardine, of Boom Road, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 76 surrounded by his family.
Born in Sillikers and raised in Quarryville, he was the son of the late Clive and Annie Pearl (McAllister) Jardine. He owned and operated his own trucking business. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years Rosaleen (Parks) Jardine of Boom Road; daughters Joetta Dunn (Perley) and Lisa Brophy (Adrian) both of Strathadam; sister Claudette Cavanagh of Quarryville; three brothers Donnie (Pauline) of Warwick, Terry (Bernadette) of Bartholomew, and Hubert (Marie) of Quarryville; sister-in-law Janice Jardine of Blackville; grandchildren Kathleen Dunn, Meghan and Thomas Brophy; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his youngest brother Garth Jardine; and mother-in-law Kathleen Parks.
Those who knew him, knew he was a staunch liberal and he served many years as Vice President of Miramichi-Bay Neguac Liberal Association and recently on the executive of the Miramichi West Liberal Association. He was a long-standing member of the Northumberland County Truckers Association and served as Secretary for many years. He was also a representative of the former Sunny Corner Local Service District and a member of Teamsters Local 927.
He had a very strong work ethic and liked nothing better than getting behind the wheel of a truck putting in long days doing what he loved; always accompanied by his right-hand man, Kyler Stewart. He also enjoyed his many side by side adventures, including multiple trips to Newfoundland. He wasn’t a big sports fan but enjoyed all things Nascar and made several trips over the years to the Louden races. But above all, he loved his family and was so very proud of his grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 11 am, from St Thomas Roman Catholic Church, in Red Bank, with Father Dan Melanson officiating.
