Peacefully, after a courageous battle with illness at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Friday, May 17, 2024, Ruth Anne (Forbes) Lonsbary of Tillsonburg passed away at the age of 79 years. Beloved wife and best friend of Arthur for 58 years. Proud and loving mother of James “Jimmy” Lonsbary of Quebec, Stephen Lonsbary (Sheryl) of Kayman Islands, Michael Lonsbary (Pauline) of London, Danielle Oosting (James) of Tillsonburg, Harvey Travis (Sherry) of Brantford, Krystal Schipper (Darryl) of Norwich and Shannon Steen of Mt. Elgin. Cherished grandma of Mya, Reagan, Emmeritt, Kayla, Kyle, Brooklyn, Dana, Angie, Emma, Jaxson, Benjamin, Gracon, Colton, Logan and great-grandchildren Ryker, Harper, Remington and Mabel. Dear sister of Joan George (Conrad) of Langton and Bonnie Marcaccio of St. Mary’s. Ruth Anne is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents James and Inez Forbes, brothers Danny, Jimmy, Donald and Allen Forbes and brother-in-law Sandy Marcaccio. Ruth Anne’s life revolved around two things. Children and Church. Ruth Anne and Arthur opened their home to 244 foster children over the years. Ruth Anne had a strong faith and was a prominent member of North Broadway Baptist Church in Tillsonburg. In keeping with Ruth Anne’s wishes cremation has taken place. Friends and relatives will be received at North Broadway Baptist Church, Tillsonburg on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. The Memorial Service for Ruth Anne will follow at 12:15 pm with Pastor Donald Calder officiating. A reception will be held at the church following the service. Memorial donations to North Broadway Baptist Church may be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home (519-842-5221) or through the church directly.
