Obituary of Jean Patricia Cull
Jean Cull, beloved wife of the late Merle Cull, passed away at the age of 98 on May 14th, 2024. Born in Browns Flat, NB on March 24th, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Williamson and Hazel (Johnson) Williamson. Jean grew up on a farm in Westfield NB, where she cherished memories of spending time with her father. A true “daddy’s girl,” Jean carried the lessons of her childhood with her throughout her life.
Jean was a devoted mother to her three daughters, Heather (Steve Clements), Barbara (Joseph Wilby), and Joanne (Michael Rogers). She was an adored grandmother to: Simon Wilby (Caroline White), Sarah Wright (Andrew Wright), Esther Wilby (Chris Leachman), Christine Huggard (Derick Huggard), and Eric Rogers (Elizabeth Hendrick). Her great-grandchildren, William, Alexandre, Eli, Henry, Sawyer, Cade, Charlotte, Lillian, and Margo, brought immense joy to her life.
Her selflessness knew no bounds, as she always put others ahead of herself, both in her profession as a nurse and in her personal life.
Jean was an active member of her community, deeply involved in her church and the UCW. She volunteered her time for youth ministry and was a dedicated member of the Fredericton Curling Club, where she shared her passion for the sport with others. In addition to her community involvement, Jean was presented with the Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Fredericton Rotary Club, of which her husband was a loyal member.
In retirement, Jean and Merle embarked on adventures across North America in their camper van, with Jean’s exceptional navigation skills guiding them along their way. She loved to capture their adventures through photography, showcasing them in her cherished photo albums.
Jean also cherished moments with her grandchildren, swinging with them on her garden swing, boating, and enjoying lobster feasts. She had a deep appreciation for music, playing both the piano and the organ. She loved walking along the beach in Shediac, NB where she spent most of her summers.
Jean’s unwavering love for God, brought her joy, which overflowed into the lives of those around her. Her culinary talents were renowned, with her green and gold casserole, apple crumble, and butterscotch squares leaving lasting impressions on family and friends.
Jean’s legacy of kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
A huge thank you to the wonderful staff at Windsor Court for their love and care for Jean and her family.
The Funeral Service for Jean will take place at St. Paul’s United Church on Friday, May 24th, 2024, at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery.
