Obituary
Douglas (Doug) Reade, 86, of Moncton passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2023.
Doug is deeply missed by his beloved wife of 58 years, Elizabeth “Betty” (Murray) Reade, and survived by his son, Mark (Stacey English) and grandson, Grey. Also mourning are his many nieces and nephews, and friends, neighbours, and colleagues. Doug was the last surviving member of his immediate family, predeceased by his parents, Russell and Olive (Dunfield) Reade, and brothers Fred, Ronnie, Ralph, and Everett.
Born in Moncton, Doug was a life-long resident of the city. Following a career in the automotive parts and truck equipment industry, Doug retired from DEL Equipment, then operated Dancer’s Duds and Frills for many years with Betty. During retirement, summers were spent at their cottage in Burnt Church, and travelling in their motorhome. Later years were spent at home on Poirier Drive, where family, friends, and neighbors always received a warm welcome.
Doug’s family would like to thank the staff of the Kenneth E. Spencer Home who cared for Doug while he was a resident.
In honoring Doug’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road Moncton (858-1995). Interment will occur at a later date at the Burnt Church Union Cemetery, Burnt Church, N.B.
Donations in Doug’s memory may be made to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation (friendsfoundation.ca) or Mountain View United Church (mtview.ca), where Doug was a long-time member of the congregation.
