It is with great sadness that the family of Laura Giesbrecht announces her passing on Friday, April 26, 2024 at the age of 87 years. Laura grew up on a farm near Cooking Lake, Alberta. From a young age she preferred to spend her time outside, camping, gardening and going for drives, especially through the mountains. She loved life and enjoyed helping family and friends. She was quiet but determined and hard working. Those who were blessed to know her well, knew that she loved to laugh and joke around. She liked watching hockey, and over the years she enjoyed cheering for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren on the ice. As a believer, church attendance was important to her, and she loved to sing the old hymns. Her family is thankful for that heritage of commitment and faith. She married Harry Giesbrecht on Sept 1, 1956. They were blessed with three children; Brenda (Duane), Marlin (Wendy), and Corey. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She has been predeceased by her parents, husband, two siblings, one grandchild, and one great grandchild. What a family reunion in heaven!
On the day that would have been her 88th birthday, a Funeral Service will be held at the Faith Covenant Church, 4712 – 53 Avenue, Breton, Alberta on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be held at a later date.
