MCCONNELL, Jonathan David – At Quinte Health-Belleville General, on Friday, May 3, 2024. Jon McConnell, of White Lake, in his 70th year. Son of Stewart and the late Ruby (Sargent) McConnell, White Lake. Husband of Beverly (Gale) McConnell. Father of Liza and Steven van de Hoef, Belleville, and James and Andrea McConnell, White Lake. Papa of Luke, Jillian, Amber, Carter, and Cora. Brother of James and Donna McConnell, White Lake. Loved by his many nieces and nephews.
Jon was co-owner of the McConnell Funeral Home for over 40 years. He coached minor hockey, served on council committees, the volunteer fire department, Marmora Snofest Committee. He was a part of St. John’s Theatre, and the Central Hastings Masonic Lodge. He was a man of faith, serving on committees at St. Andrew’s United Church in Marmora, and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Tweed. He was also a volunteer staff member of Echo Lake Youth camp for over 40 years.
Jon was larger than life. He made so many people feel special and loved, especially each of his grandchildren. He lived life to the max. He loved motorcycle rides, hockey, water-skiing and spending a day on his tractor. Each day was a gift and the void he leaves behind is enormous.
The family will receive friends at the Rushnell Funeral Home, 112 Durham St. S., Madoc, on Wednesday, May 8, and Thursday, May 9, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. A.F & A.M Masonic Lodge Service Thursday at 3:00 p.m. Funeral service at Madoc Trinity United Church, 76 St. Lawrence St. E., Madoc, on Friday, May 10, at 10:300 a.m. Interment White Lake Cemetery, Highway 62 Madoc. Reception to follow at Madoc Kiwanis Club, 139 St. Lawrence St. E., Madoc. Donations to Echo Lake Youth Ministries would be appreciated.
