Daisy Keyes
November 23, 1940 – April 29, 2024
Daisy Keyes (nee: Hillier)
Born: November 23, 1940 Fortune bay, NL
Passed away: April 29, 2024 Lunenburg, NS
It is with great sadness today that we say goodbye to our big sister, Daisy. She always seemed to be the wise, sensible and stylish sibling who could do anything she set her mind to.
Daisy attended Vocational school in Halifax graduating with a secretarial diploma and also attended a Dale Carnegie course where she gained her voice that was a force to be reckoned with especially when she entered the workforce as a credit collector for Smith Tr
ucking and Cummins Diesel where Daisy harnessed some of the burliest men in the trucking industry to pay their debts.
This is also where fate intervened and she met her late husband Reid Keyes. They made a happy life together for many years in NB prior to his passing.
Daisy eventually used her amazing green thumb to become a creative florist with the ability to design beautiful works of art in Woodstock, NB. where she was supported by her in-laws and extended family.
Daisy eventually returned to Chester, NS to be closer to her immediate family and to start up another floral/home decor business. With family close by and becoming a member of the local garden club Daisy was in her glory.
After many years retirement became a reality mainly due to health issues. At this time Daisy moved into Shoreham Village and made her cozy apt into an inviting home that showcased her very own stamp of impeccable design in every corner.
She loved her safe haven but unfortunately even this too had to come to an end and Daisy had to move into Harbour View Haven where she was cared for by the wonderful nursing team during her palliative period and shortly afterwards passed away peacefully.
Daisy is survived by her sister; Effie (late Jim Dominey) brother; Harold Hillier and Alyson (nee Blakey) sister; Norma plus many nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.
Daisy was predeceased by her husband Reid Keyes, both parents Harold Hillier and Alice (nee Williams).
Cremation will take place and a private family gathering will occur in Jacksonville, NB at a later date where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband.
We knew this day would eventually occur but how does anyone prepare to say goodbye to family?
Our eyes will never be able to gaze upon your face again in this lifetime but our memories and love will mend the hole that has been sadly left in our hearts.
Till we meet again…
