1940-2024
The passing of Leonard Gerald Roy Holland occurred at St.
Joseph’s Hospital, Saint John NB on April 18, 2024. Born in
Saint John on February 12, 1940, he was a son of the late Percy and
Emma (Smith) Holland. A loving brother and uncle, Leonard is survived
by his sisters Lillian Rogers of Seeley’s Cove, Linda
Barrett also of Seeley’s Cove and Doris Newell of St.
George; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his
parents, Leonard was predeceased by two sisters, Hazel Harris and
Thelma McGillivary; brother, George Holland; and by two brothers in
infancy.
Prior to retirement, Leonard spent his life on the water as a
fisherman. A very quiet and simple man, Leonard enjoyed keeping to
himself and getting out for drives or going to restaurants. He will be
missed dearly by his family.
In keeping with Leonard’s wishes, there will be no
visiting. A graveside service will be held at the Presbyterian Kirk
Cemetery, Pennfield NB at a later date to be announced. In his memory,
donations to the Terry Fox Foundation, Christ Church (Anglican)
Pennfield or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be
appreciated by the family.
