Hannah Magretta Best, aged 82, passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Health Science Center, St. John’s.
Predeceased by her parents, Harold and Mary Bursey, sister Marilyn Pretty, sister and brother-in-law Joan and John Green, brother-in-law Clyde Rogers, and grandson Benjamin Gregory York Best.
Leaving to mourn her children George (Melinda), Cordell (Gail), Wade (Peggy), Wanda (Don), and Nadine (Danny); grandchildren Damian (Martine), Terri-Lynn, Sarah (Ally), Mason (Jamie), Kaylee (Nikki), Megan (Mark), Luke, Nicole (Matt), Jessica (Kyle), Garrett, Justin, Noah (Chantal), Nicholas (Lainey), and Zoe (Nathan); great grandchildren Samuel, Sarah-Maude, Jordyn, Jayla, Brenden, Rowan, Quinn, Henri, and Levi. Also leaving to mourn her sisters whom she loved dearly Gwen, Donna (Steve), Ellie (Earl), Carol (Don); brother-in-law: Jimmy Pretty; and so many beautiful nieces, nephews, and cousins; lifelong friend Greta; also a very large circle of friends.
Mom had a love for her family like no other. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. Surviving cancer, she found a passion for sewing and quilting. Up until the very end she had several projects in the works. Her love for her church and her faith never wavered. Mom was always there to help out anyone that was going through a hard time, and her compassion was one of a kind. She loved to make her children and grandchildren laugh with her quick wit and humor, and was always up for a bit of fun. She will be dearly missed by family and everyone who knew her.
A special thank you to Admirals Coast Retirement Centre for giving mom such special care in her short time there. Thank you to Sandra Ash, her home support worker, for her wonderful care and companion. Also a special thank you to the CCU at the Health Science for their kindness and support in moms last hours.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Green’s Funeral Home, Winterton, resting at Salvation Army Lower Trinity Corp.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 11th at 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm; Friday, April 12th at 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
Cremation to take place Saturday, April 13th.
Funeral service Sunday, April 14th at 2:00 pm at the Salvation Army Lower Trinity Corp, Winterton.
Interment in The Salvation Army Lower Trinity Corp Cemetery, Winterton.
Donations in Magretta’s name can be made to the Salvation Army Lower Trinity Corp in Winterton.
