Gerry passed away suddenly at Campbellford Memorial Hospital on Friday, April 5th, 2024, in his 63rd year. Beloved husband of Julia (nee Gains). Devoted and loving father of Melissa and Andrea Smith, and step-father to Ben Hutchinson (Tina Scott) and Emma Hutchinson (Liam Mulcahy). Proud grandfather of Chloe and Caden. Cherished brother of Heather Reid (Don) and David Smith (Connie), brother-in-law of Karen Ross (Jim), best friend of Bob Williams (Pam), and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Clarence and Nancy (nee Harrison) Smith. Gerry will live forever in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be forever remembered and greatly missed by his family, many friends, fellow OPP officers, the many community members he served, and even his beloved cat Molly. Julia would like to express her deep gratitude for the Paramedics and OPP who attended the scene, with special thanks to OPP Officer Andrew Gordenier for his support and care during the extremely difficult hours of Friday morning. There will be a visitation held at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, on Thursday, April 11th, 2024 from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. The funeral service will be held in the Highland Park Chapel on Friday, April 12th, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. followed by a light luncheon. Private interment to take place at Little Lake Cemetery. In memory of Gerry, donations to Cops for Cancer – Pedal for Hope would be appreciated by the family and can be made; along with expressions of condolence, below.
