Sheila McDougall Obituary
We are deeply saddened that Sheila Teresa (McGuigan) McDougall went home to be with Jesus her Saviour, God her Father and all the angels and saints on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the age of 92.
Sheila was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 5, 1931. She went to school at St. Mary’s Academy in Winnipeg, where she was an outstanding student. She excelled at sports as well and kept up her golfing and curling for many years.
After graduating, she went to work at the Toronto Dominion Bank, where she met her husband of 65 years, Dan McDougall. They had three sons, Dan, Don, and Dick. Even the dog, Scamp, was a boy – poor Sheila! As a result, her interest in sports never diminished, as she followed the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and, more recently, the Calgary Flames and the Toronto Blue Jays.
In the spring of 1976, the family moved to Calgary and has been here ever since. Sheila made many friends at Willow Park Golf Course, and she and Dan have been active parishioners at St. Bonaventure Church since arriving here in Calgary.
Sheila was always a very kind person, willing to help anyone – never expecting anything in return. Her priority was her family – and she looked after them well. We will all miss her terribly.
Sheila was predeceased by her father, James; her mother, Gertrude; her mother and father-in-law, Bert and Donella; her brothers, James and David; her brother-in-law, Blake; and her nephew, David.
She is survived by her husband, Dan; her sons Dan (Helena), Don and Dick (Jennifer); her brother, Dick (Connie); her sisters-in-law, Norma, June and Betty-Ann; her nephew, James; her nieces Judy, Jana, Lindsay, Jo-Ann, Linda (Michael); and her grandchildren, Haley, Robyn, Blake, Abby and Burke.
Rest in peace, Sheila. We love you so much and will always hold you in our hearts.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Dr SE) on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 11:00 am.
