Michael James Leslie (July 15th, 1956 – March 27th, 2024)
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael James Leslie on Wednesday, March 27th, 2024, at the young age of 67. Born in Brampton, while growing up Mike enjoyed playing fastball in Hornby and hockey in Milton. He started his education in the Quatre Bras one room schoolhouse about a mile from his home. After graduating from the University of Waterloo Civil Engineering program in 1982, he began a 38-year career with PPG Canada, finishing as the Technical Service Manager. Mike continued to play and coach fastball and hockey, as well as golf, shooting two aces.
During his career, Mike travelled to many places in the United States, Western Canada and to Yellowknife. In retirement, Mike and Cora moved to Tillsonburg and built a new home. He enjoyed his many golf trips to Florida with his buddy Jim and travels to the British Isles, Europe and Jamaica with Cora. He was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan from the day he was born and loved going to car races.
Mike will be sadly missed and remembered by his wife Cora (Newhook) of 40 years; his two sons Steven and Kevin and his daughter Jessie (Kyle); his brother Richard (Bonnie) and sister Elizabeth (the late Brian). Mike was predeceased by his parents Fran and Dave. He’ll be sadly missed by his brothers-in-law, cousins, six nieces and nephews, Aunt Kay, and uncles Keith and Bill; and also by Teddy, George, and Sky.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, May 11th from 1 to 4 PM at the Terrace on the Green (8672 Mississauga Rd, Brampton). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the MS Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Mike’s honour.
