Obituary
It is with great sadness I announce the passing of my wife, Alice Anne LeMay. She died March 13, 2024, peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
Born September 13, 1942, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Alice Anne graduated from St. Joseph’s nursing school in Toronto and spent time working as a nurse at Toronto Western Hospital, as a member of the staff of the first cardiac unit in Toronto; a cardiologist’s office; as well as the offices of Doctors Rosen and Gollum – Ear, Nose, and Throat surgeons, before our children were born. Our son Michael was born in 1969, followed by sisters Melissa in 1970 and Anjeanette in 1972. The delight of her later years were her 5 grandchildren – Martin, Liam, Kiera, Fielding, and Miles.
A dedicated supporter and defender of public Catholic education in Ontario, Alice Anne ran for the position of school trustee in 1980 and was thereafter re-elected for 34 years. She served on many committees on the Board over the years as well as terms as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board. In 2010, the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association awarded Alice Anne with their Award of Merit for outstanding service rendered on behalf of Catholic education in Ontario. In 2015, she received the Father Mazerolle Award from the Ontario Association of Parents for Catholic Education. This is awarded to a person who has substantially contributed to the Catholic school system in Ontario. This length of awarded service is true testament to her commitment.
Alice Anne loved to explore new places and over the last few decades we visited every province, territory, and state in North America with the sole exception of Nunavut. She loved planning our routes and places of interest to visit all along the way.
She was the love of my life, and I’ll miss her forever,
Paul
In lieu of flowers, Alice Anne would greatly appreciate donations to the Halton Catholic Children’s Foundation.

  1. My heart goes out to Paul and family on the loss of a great Catholic leader and person. Not only did she support me and my colleagues at the School Board level but she was also my close neighbour for many years in Oakville. We were also connected at the parish level as we both attended the same mass at St Dominic’s Church. Her legacy in Catholic education will be hard to match. Rest in peace dear friend.
