Obituary For Shirley Rose Bowering
April 18, 1949 – March 3, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Rose Bowering on March 3rd, 2024 at the age of 74 years.
Shirley was born on April 18th, 1949 in Prince Albert Saskatchewan where she grew up in a large family of 10 children.
In her mid twenties, Shirley moved to Grande Cache, Alberta to join her sisters Irene, Grace and brother Doug. Grande Cache is where she spent most of her life. This is where she raised her children, met & married the love of her life and became a local legend back in the day.
Shirley was most often the life of the party. She loved to laugh. She loved a good joke. She loved to sing and she loved to dance.
Mom’s favorite time of the year was Christmas. She was very well known for elaborately decorating our home inside and out. Mom always made sure to have lots of homemade baked goods (namely her famous butter tarts), a table full of food trays and drinks for friends and family to pop by for a visit on Christmas Eve.
Left to honour Shirley’s memory are all 6 of her children, 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
Waiting to welcome Mom home to heaven, was her ever loving husband Wayne George Bowering, her beloved granddaughter Karissa Josephine Sitko, her parents Eva and James Cooke and 4 of her siblings.
A gathering of friends will be held this summer. The date and location will be determined in the weeks to come. Once confirmed, the details will be posted on Facebook for those who’d like to attend.
