Passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on Monday March 4, 2024, with family by her side at St. Peter’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Dorothy Benning. Patricia is survived by her loving husband Ron of 45 years. Patricia adored her “sibs” Don (Maddy), Sandra, Mark (Sherry) and Scott (Sara). She was a devoted step mother to Jacqui, Michael (Debbie), Kathy (Gary) and Alisha (Brent) she was loved by many nieces, nephews and was also a very loving and special grandma to her grandkids and great grandkids. Pat was a very proud employee of the Hamilton Police Department as an HR
manager for 34 years.
She enjoyed traveling and shopping and wherever she went she made an effort to say hello to everybody she met and she always radiated positivity. She had numerous close friends that she loved to enjoy life with, she was also a passionate reader in her spare time. The family would like to thank the many nurses, doctors and caregivers who took care of Pat through this
final journey. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Pat was the first person I met when I attended Central Police Station to apply for a job as a Cadet in the Spring of 1979. From that day forward I always saw Pat as a wonderful, caring, confident and professional person. It was a pleasure and a privilege to have known Pat. My sincere condolences to Ron and Family.

Pat will always be in my fondest memories She accepted me into the HR department when I was still in high school for my grade 12 Law class placement She inspired me and encouraged me to apply to the Department as a civilian when I graduated from high school I did She was influential in my hiring and in my career She was always there for me for guidance and advice as I moved into supervisory positions Outside the job she was such a lovely person My mom was very fond of her too as she was a frequent customer at the clothing store my mom worked at Pat always went out of her way to really get to know people What a beautiful person 💜

I was surprised to read of Pat’s passing. I worked with Pat in HR which I thoroughly enjoyed. Overseeing sworn and non sworn members and new applications was challenging. Please accept my condolences and by extension to Ron and Mike.

I knew Pat from our old Ancaster High School days. It was at a chance meeting when Pat asked if there were openings at the police department. The rest is history. She was so engaging, always with a big smile that invited into her world. Elegant.

Oh no! Definitely a shocking notification. My heart aches for your loss. Pat was so dear to me. I am grateful about the relationships that were built at HPS. Ours was created very early in my career. Ron, …so pleased to see your choice of a picture to mark Pat’s passing announcement.
That is the woman I remember so fondly.
We met when she was working with the Stewart Commission Review of Regional Government in the mid 70’s. Pat was a knowledgeable, compassionate and warm face whenever we met in our later policing roles.
I shall miss her, as one of the bright lights guiding my career. Be at peace, fair lady.
