Eldred Stamp Obituary
Eldred passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024 at the age of 92 years.
He is survived by his 6 children: Norman (Sharon), Diana (Mark), Gordon (Jozefina), Denise (Brian), Darlene (Larry), & Douglas. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Eldred was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret, sister Lorna Engstrom, brother Ken Stamp, and daughters-in-law Donna Stamp and Vicki Stamp.
Eldred was born in Swift Current Saskatchewan and grew up in Edmonton. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1949 and remained with them until 1965 as a mechanic and radar technician. As an employee with Canadian Marconi in Montreal Eldred trained individuals across North America and in numerous countries around the world.
He left Marconi in 1976 and returned to Alberta, obtained a teaching degree, and taught at Ponoka Composite High School until his retirement.
He spent his retirement travelling, taking beautiful pictures, and seeing family and friends.
He was a proud Metis and member of the Aboriginal Veterans Society of Alberta.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Ponoka Hospital & Care Center and Dr. Sawisky for their care provided, especially over his last years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024 at the Ponoka Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. There will be a reception following the service.
