Sherry Porteous
December 31, 1964 – February 29, 2024
Surrounded by family, Sherry (Sher) Porteous passed away peacefully on February 29th, 2024 at the age of 59. Sher will be remembered as a devoted and caring partner to Peter Robb, adoring mother to Parker (Hannah), and loving niece to Brenda, Dan (Bonnie), and Brian (Susan).
Sher’s quick wit and selfless nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her, including her many family members, Peter’s sisters and brothers and their families, her close friends, and her beloved dog Beau. We are comforted that she will now be with her dear father Ron, grandparents, and other lost loved ones.
Sher had a noteworthy career at the Kingston Whig Standard before moving to the Ontario Public Sector. Her loyalty and dedication will be remembered by her colleagues who share in our family’s loss.
Sher enjoyed gardening, reading and decorating, but above all else she loved caring for others. Despite being private and humble about her charity work, Sher’s impact has been immeasurable for the lives touched by her generosity.
At her request, there will be no service held. In honour of her generous spirit, donations in Sher’s memory can be made to the Integrated Care Hub or the Kingston Humane Society.
Lastly, we would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Kingston General Hospital’s ICU for their outstanding care and support. May Sher’s beautiful memory live forever in our hearts.
