CORLESS, John Alvin
John passed away on Wednesday February 21st.in his 76th. year.
John will be forever loved and cherished by his wife of 52 years Bonnie (nee Shortt).
Upon moving to Peterborough, John was an employee at City Hall in the Engineering Department as an inspector and then at Public Works.
John was a long time member of the Peterborough Curling Club which included service on the Board.Because of the club, we established many life long friendships.
John volunteered at the Mount Community Centre with the ‘ Friday Morning Crew’. That Mount team were recognized with the Peterborough Civic Award in 2018. His knowledge of the city infrastructure proved to be invaluable many times.
In 1956, John ‘s parents Ben and Dot had a cottage built on Red Pine Lake in the Halliburton Highlands. Every summer from that year until 2017,the family and then John and I spent every summer at the lake in the ‘ Beaton / Corless bay’. Strong generational family bonds were established with a very unique group of cottagers. They all worked hard and played hard!
John and I enjoyed traveling to many destinations within Europe and coast to coast within Canada. We experienced many amazing hiking trips in the Rockies with his sister Susan who lived in Banff.
As per John’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation nor funeral.
In memory of John, donations to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
