Ray Roberts Obituary
Raymond William Roberts
1928 – 2024
Raymond William Roberts, (95), of Kingston, ON, beloved husband, father, father in-law, and granddad, quietly passed away on February 14, 2024 at Kingston General Hospital surrounded by family.
Raymond (Ray), was born on July 10, 1928 in Burnley, Lancashire, England. At a very early age, Ray’s family moved to Blackpool, on the west coast of England, where he grew up by the sand and sea, dance halls and live entertainment. He recounted many days growing up in Blackpool and often referred to it as ‘a paradise for a young boy’.
In 1950, Ray emigrated to Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) where he met his wife of 69 years, Sheila Roberts, (nee Warham).
Ray and Sheila married in 1954 and moved to Montreal, Canada, in 1958 with their two eldest daughters, Lyn and Julie. They lived in the Montreal area for 19 years.
Ray is survived by his wife, Sheila, and his four children, Lyn (Brian), Julie (Steve), Mark and Jane.
He had such great love for family and his 8 grandchildren: Christopher, Meagan, Dustin, Katrina, Nikolas, Samantha, Sarah, and Rebecca; as well as his three great grandchildren: Hartley, Colton, and Carter.
Ray loved gardening and spent many hours working on the garden at the Princess Street United Church.
The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the love and kindness the staff at KGH took with our beloved Raymond.
You will be missed and never forgotten. ❤️
