Obituary
Leo Peter Hickey, age 80, of Stratford, Ontario, passed away on Friday, January 27th, 2023 at Stratford Rotary Hospice. Born in beautiful English Harbour East, Newfoundland to George and Martha (Hackett) Hickey. Loving father of Madonna Nadeau (Ron) and Mark Hickey (Maria). Poppy to Rachelle Belanger (Kyle), Maggie Belanger, Rebecca Cusack (Mike), Mortimer Reynolds and Nicole Hickey. Great Poppy to Violet, Ivan and James.
Left to mourn are his brothers and sisters Jerry Hickey, Madonna Shea, Shirley (David) Porter, and George (Karen) Hickey. He will also be remembered by special friends Linda Bradley, Joe & Michelle Salter, Mark Bowland and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Predeceased by his son Leo Jr., daughter Tatia, wife Diana, sister Winnifred (Fredrick) Harvison, brother-in-law Peter Shea, sister-in-law Mary Hickey, best friends Hinz, Alex Kelly and his faithful companions Billy & Midge.
Leo was trained in shipbuilding in Halifax and then made his way to Vancouver where he worked as a shipbuilder for many years before moving to Stratford. After moving to Stratford, Leo worked as a contractor owning and operating his own business as Leo’s Home Repair. He loved to read, listen to tunes and share a good meal. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, golfing with his buddies and was an avid Detroit Red Wings Fan. He will be remembered for his kind spirit, sense of humour and loving nature.
