It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our
loved one, George Button, at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, NL, on
February 9th , 2024.
George was born on Feb 25th , 1956, to Edwin and Marion Button in Hare Bay,
NL, where he resided until his death. He is predeceased by father Edwin, mother Marion, brothers John, Eric, David and sister Melissa.
Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Mary Ann, Sterling (Jackie),
grand-children Caitlin and Cheyenne, Jacqueline (Frédéric) Devost, grand-
children Sarina and Jora, sister Melissa (Melvin) Green, brothers Percy
(Wanda), Harvey (Christine), sisters-in-law Shonaine and Ida, as well as a large
circle of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and friends.
George’s love for his family, his passion for the outdoors, and his ability to bring
laughter to any situation will be forever missed. He was a very down to earth
and a genuinely simplistic man. He had a unique talent for making even the
simplest moments memorable and joyful, often the family referred to him as
the jokester of the group.
We are thankful for the compassionate care provided by the staff at James
Paton Memorial Hospital during George’s final days, and Horwood’s Home Care
(Kayla et al.) for his care at home.
Following his wishes, cremation has been conducted privately and a formal
service will not be held. However, a celebration of life is planned for a later
date to honor George’s memory. You can also email condolences to
