It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mom Marie Nellie MacKay on February 9, 2024.
Marie was pre deceased by her husband Glen and her son Tim as well as her parents, Donald and Hazel Hay. Siblings, Ferdinand, Owen and Connie.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa Beaudry (François) and son Kevin MacKay (Lindsey), her sister Alice and brother Garnett (Shirley). She is also survived my many nieces and nephews who adored her.
She will be forever loved and missed by her grandchildren, Michael, Alex, Brett, Sara, Eric, Kalum and Laurel. She will live on through her great grandchildren, Taylor, Kennedy, Emily, Tara, Lucas and Brielle.
Marie was involved with many organizations over her lifetime. One being, Girl Guides. She started as a brownie leader for her daughter Lisa. She soon became a fixture within the organization serving at the district division and provincial levels in various leadership roles. Including camping and awards. Marie was the recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee medal. She was a lifetime member and belonged to the Fredericton Trefoil Guild. She will be missed by her guiding family.
Marie was also a member of the Imperial Rebekah Lodge #102 for 44 years. During which time she held many offices in her home lodge as well as in the Rebekah Assembly of the Atlantic provinces . During her 44 years as a Rebekah, she lived the tenets of the order – friendship, love and truth. These were shown to everyone in her life.
Marie had many hobbies including, painting, gardening, and doing puzzles. She was also an avid traveller and had many stories to tell of her lifetime adventures.
She will be forever cherished and missed.
Marie will be honoured by her family with a celebration of life. This will be held from the Gibson Memorial United Church on Saturday, February 17, 2024 with a Visitation from 12 noon to 12:45 pm followed by the Service at 1pm, with a reception to take place afterwards. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Fredericton or to Luxor Shriners Transportation Fund (e-transfer to office@luxorshriners.com).
