Alvin Joseph Gagnon, 73, of Fredericton, peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
Alvin was born in Lorne, New Brunswick on May 1st, 1950, to his loving parents, Hector and Sylvia (Lapointe) Gagnon. Sadly, he was predeceased by his daughter Amy and his brothers Johnny and Terry.
His life took him across the country, working in various mines before a workplace accident prevented him from continuing this type of work.
Forever the fighter and optimist, he took this as an opportunity to change careers by earning a degree in computer science from UNB and spending the next 20 years working at NB Power. He adored the simple pleasures of life, especially watching movies on Sunday afternoons with his granddaughter and a good cup of tea.
Alvin is survived by his two sons, Jeff Gagnon (Mitchell) and Greg Gagnon (Kate), their mother, Jocelyn Clarke and his dearly loved granddaughter, Hannah Gagnon. In addition, he is survived by his brothers Roger Gagnon (Dianne) and Romeo Gagnon; his sisters Marcella Gagnon-Lapointe, Carmella Noel, and Susan Gamble (David).
A service will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, with a reception to follow. If so desired, memorial gifts may be made to the IWK or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
