Obituary of Curtis Cameron Clark
On Thursday, January 26, Curtis (Curt) Cameron Clark, a loving father of three, passed away. Curtis was forty-eight. Born in Goose Bay to Douglas and Marjorie he completed his Fishing Masters 4 and had a lifelong dream of being in the captain’s seat. Curtis spent his lifetime on the water, fishing everything from crab to turbot to shrimp. He fished the areas off the Labrador, and even ventured off as far as Greenland while working on the large fish processing vessel.
Curtis had a love for the Big Land and a passion for being on the water. Not only was fishing his career of choice but also a hobby that he willingly shared with his family and friends. Those who knew Curtis knew he was the person you could call upon to tweak an outboard motor, change a tire, do a complete rehaul of a snowmobile engine or swap out a truck motor – there was no limit when it came to mechanical – a skill he acquired from his father at a very young age and his late uncle Ralph. Curtis was well-known for his infectious smile, fierce determination, and generous spirit.
“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” – Pablo Picasso.
Curtis was rich with generosity and kindness and freely gave it away to whomever crossed his path.
Curtis is pre-deceased by his grandparents, Henry John and Bridget (Jacque) Williams and Solomon and Phoebe (Reeves) Clark. He is survived by his soulmate Lisa Blandford, sons Adam, Craig and Cayden, Lisa’s children Steven and Emma, parents Doug and Marj, siblings Andrea (Patrick) and Harry (Charlene), nephews Brendan and Julian, nieces Olivia and Emma and a large circle of relatives and friends.
The family wish to send a special thanks to our courageous searchers Gary, Cecil and Wilson, the members of the RCMP who responded to our call and Rev. Gail Thoms-Williams for her tremendous support and uplifting attitude. A heartfelt thanks is also sent to all our family, friends and members of the community who phoned, texted, messaged, sent cards, provided delicious meals and desserts and held us in their thoughts and prayers.
The funeral service for his life and witness will be held on Sunday, February 5, at 10:00am at St. Peter’s Anglican Church. The internment of ashes and spreading of ashes will take place in Cartwright and North River this summer with future details to be shared.
