Colette’s Obituary
Colette Anne Cottreau
November 15, 1964-January 30, 2023
Age 58 of Wedgeport, passed away on January 30, 2023 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Fannie (Doucette) Bourque.
Colette was in the Air Cadets in her early teens (early 80’s) for 35 years and then went on to become an officer. She recently retired as a Captain and one of her joys in life was training the youth cadets.
In her last 10 years she decided to pursue a childhood dream of her own breeding kennel which led her to “Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers”, which led to showing her dogs in the Maritimes. Colette raised 2 Grand Champions. She was director for the Atlantic Region, Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier Association of Canada for 2 years. She was also a member and fundraising chairperson for the Nova West Kennel Club.
In the summers you could find her homesteading, picking strawberries, blueberries and pickling. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She helped her husband photograph Santa Claus and take many pictures at sporting events.
Colette is survived by her loving husband, Percy Cottreau, Wedgeport; children, Ansel Cottreau (Sandra Rotaru), Ottawa; Tara (Marc) Côté, Arcadia; Brendan (Elena) Cottreau, Melbourne; siblings, Warren Bourque, Lake Charles, Louisiana; Lynn Bourque (Barney Corporon), Yarmouth; grandchildren, Vincent and Iris Côté. She was predeceased by her siblings, Alden Bourque, Natalie Bourque in infancy and Curtis Bourque; sister-in-law, Evelyn Bourque.
