Betty Ann (Elizabeth) Braekevelt ( nee Flynn) –
1940 – 2024
Passed away peacefully at Chatham Kent Health Alliance with loved ones by her side.
Parents pre-deceased Norman and Louise Flynn, (nee Bernier).
Loving, devoted husband, Thomas Braekevelt.
Children Dennis (Dolores) Kwasnycia, Krisan Feenstra (Fred) and Steven Braekevelt.
Grandchildren Chad (2020), Brandon, Denny, Joshua (Breanna), Nathan,(Stacy), Jordan, Megan, Tyler, Justin.
Great grandchildren Samantha, Ella, Maia, Lillian, Aenghus, Mary Francis, Brody, Kali, Emmett, Tori, Ollie, Jovie, Osias, Michael, Liam.
Siblings Ronald (2003) (Mary Lou) Flynn, Donna Flynn, David (Debbie)Flynn.
Sadly, missed by Aunts, Cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Betty was a resident of Chatham Kent for many years until she met her true love in 1990. They married in 1991 and have lived in Algonac, Michigan the past 33 years. In 2001 they built their dream home in Bonita Springs Florida.
They have travelled all over the USA, Hawaii, Bahamas, and Mexico.
She was very involved with the church. She sat on the church council, was a Eucharistic minister, the coordinator of weddings and rehearsals and was involved with the homeless, helping them get on the right path of life. She even made the drapery for the church. She worked with hospice patients with her devoted dog baby girl.
She enjoyed cooking, canning and won blue ribbons for her apple pies and took classes on Chinese cooking. She had many hobbies, sewing, stained glass, refinishing antique furniture, making Victoria lampshades, upholstering furniture. Her passion was gardening and dancing. Tom and Betty spent many years line dancing. She loved painting with acrylics and oils.
Avid Boater and member of the Bluewater wood turners of Michigan.
She had so many talents, and there was nothing she could not do.
Betty, you will be dearly missed by all.
Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday January 28, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday January 29,2024 at 11:00am.
