At the age of 96, Christel Frieda Hildegard Jurczenko of Lunenburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg, attended by her two daughters and the caring staff of the Home.
Born in Kiel, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Harry Robert Julius and Frieda Dorothea (Bargfeldt) Klau.
In 2011, Christel moved from Toronto to Lunenburg to be closer to her two daughters after the death of her husband of 60 years. She loved to help her family at the local weekly Farmers Market in Lunenburg where she felt both welcomed and enriched by her many new friends.
Christel is survived by her daughters, Tatjana (John) Barr, Lunenburg, Elena (Barry) Wilson-Singer, Lunenburg; grandchildren, Daniel, Christopher, Roger, Richard and also her beloved great granddaughter, Seven Klau.
She was predeceased by her parents, seven siblings, husband, Vladimir Jurczenko and grandson, Andreas Klau.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. #3, Lunenburg. A celebration of Christel’s life will be held at a later date.
Those desiring, memorial donations in Christel’s memory may be made to the Resident Memorial Garden Fund at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care.
