1931-2024
The passing of Lawrence Everett Dewar formerly of St. George
NB, beloved husband of the late Marie Edna (Pettie) Dewar occurred at
the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on January 20, 2024.
Born at St. George NB on August 21, 1931, he was o son of the late
Everett and Marion K. (Kagler) Dewar.
A loving father, grandfather and brother, Lawrence is
survived by his daughters: Linda (Robert) Fraser of Fredericton NB,
Debbie Scott of Bethel NB, Donna (Larry) Koteff of Pennfield NB, Nancy
Frost of Saint John NB and Carol Leavitt of St. George NB, 15
grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and eight great great
grandchildren, his brothers: Ronald Dewar of St. George NB and Ralph
(Lynn) Dewar of Beaver Harbour NB as well as several nieces, nephews
and cousins. In addition to his parents and his beloved Marie, he was
predeceased by his son; Gary, daughter; Linda Orchard, grandson; Peter
Orchard, granddaughter; Jennifer Scott, brother; Sherman Dewar,
grandsons in law: Troy Charters and Kevin Smith, sons in law; Dan
Frost, Gerald Gillet and Earl Scott.
Prior to his retirement Lawrence worked throughout the area
for various employers. He worked delivering milk for Dewars Dairy as
well as driving oil delivery truck for Irving Oil. Lawrence also
worked as a custodian at Fundy High School for a number of years as
well as at Point Lepreau. He was no stranger to hard outside work as
he looked forward every year to travel to Hoyt for haying season as
well as finding him in the Blueberry fields, not to mention in the
woods tipping and making wreaths in late fall.
Lawrence had some kitchen skills and will be remembered for
his banana bread and pickles as well as the crafty side making
popsicle stick models of his houses.
Lawrence was also a long time member of the St. George Fire
Department serving over 30 years as a driver, Deputy Chief and finally
retiring as Fire Chief. He will be sadly missed by his family and
friends.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium
(755-3533) from where the service will be held from the chapel on
Wednesday at 2 pm. Interment will be held in the St. George Rural
Cemetery in the spring. In Lawrences memory, donations to a charity of
the donors choice would be appreciated by the
family.
