Born February 15th, 1931, she passed away peacefully in her sleep at Kemptville, Ontario on Wednesday January 10th, 2024.
Widow of Patrick Joseph (May 1929 – Feb 1981) and loving mother to Sue (Bob), Phil (Jan), Denise (Svata), Andy (Shari), Pat (Mary) & Nora (Rob). Grandma to Kevin (Mikayla), Chris (Heather), Kevin, Ryan (Erica), Jessica, Michael (Lorraine), Ashley (Shawn), Caitlin, Justin and Matthew (Christa). Great Grandma to Addison, Heidi, Travis, Ariel, Lilith, Scarlett, Skylar, Gwendolyn and Audrey-Yana.
An only child to Eileen & Arthur Handley of Liverpool, England. Mom’s formative years were heavily influenced by WWII, which never left her. She married at 19, emigrated to Toronto in 1952 and raised her family in Downsview and Malton. She worked for years at Fireco and spent a lifetime: singing (at home & in church choirs); line dancing; practicing Yoga; and being active in Tai Chi.
A very warm thank you to the wonderful staff at the SouthBridge Long Term Care facility’s Sunflower Suites. Their compassion and professionalism shone through daily, making a difference throughout Mom’s last chapter. Mom’s urn will be interned with Dad at Assumption Cemetery this spring.
