It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Darlene T. Benteau of Point May announces her passing. Darlene passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the age of 65.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her husband, Charles of 29 years; daughter, Melony Hooper (Terry) of Torbay; sons, Scott Benteau (Toni-Michelle) of Alberta, Gregory Benteau (Kayla) of Point May and Tyler Murphy (Mikaela) of St. John’s; grandchildren, Thomas, Caden, Parker, Cohen and Oliver; step-daughter, Khyla Murphy of Alberta; step-sons, Kent Murphy (Cherrie) of St. John’s, Kevin Murphy of St. Lawrence and Kyle Murphy of St. John’s; step-grandchildren, Jessica, Kenton and Kiera; step-great-grandchildren, Hudson and Colter; sisters, Shirley Slaney of Point May, Emma Best (John Joe Stacey) of Point May, Philomena Stacey of Point May, Melinda Collins (Kevin) of Point May, Elizabeth Hillier of Point Aux Gaul, Carmelita Hillier (Les) of Point May and Rowena Hillier (Frank) of Lamaline; brothers, John Stacey (Elizabeth) of Point May, Gerald Stacey of Point May, Peter Stacey (Elizabeth) of Point May, Cecil Stacey of Fortune and William Stacey (Norma) of Fortune; sister-in-law, Barbara Stacey of Lamaline; best friends, Maureen Murphy of Lord’s Cove and Maxine Parsons of Lawn; plus a large circle of extended family and friends.
Darlene was predeceased by her husband, Gregory Benteau; parents, Peter & Elsie Stacey; parents-in-law, Harriet & David Benteau and Charles & Alice Murphy; brothers, Leonard Stacey and Marcel Stacey; and sisters, Isabel Stacey and Mary Boland.

From where the prayer vigil will be held on Sunday, January 21st at 7pm.
Funeral Mass will take place at Church of the Most Holy Rosary, Point May on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 11am. Cremation to follow.
In Darlene’s memory donations may be made to Church of The Most Holy Rosary Cemetery, Point May or flowers gratefully accepted.
