Kenneth George “Ken”
Fitzgerald – 67 – Queensport,
passed away Sunday January 14th, 2024, at
Guysborough Memorial Hospital.
Born in
Halifax, he was the son of the late James and Helen (LLoy)
Fitzgerald.
Ken is
survived by his partner of over 40 years, Charles “Chuck”
Tovey. He and Chuck shared many years together in Halifax
before moving to Queensport where they enjoyed gardening, reading,
cooking, and volunteering in the preparation of community dinners to
support the local Catholic parish. Ken and Chuck’s
chihuahuas Duke and Dutchess and dachshunds Gertrude and Gunther were
very special to both of them.
Before moving
to Queensport, Ken worked in both the insurance and hardware
fields.
Besides Chuck,
he is survived by his brother James (Julia), Bridgewater, Keith,
Antrim; sister Sharon (Azur) Smajlovic, Halifax; and nieces and
nephews.
He is
predeceased by his parents; sisters-in-law Pauline (James’
former wife) and Shirley (Keith’s former
wife).
Cremation has
taken place with a graveside service to be held in Queensport at a
later date.
Memorial
donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of
your choice.
