With heavy hearts, we, the family, regret to announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife and mother, Mary Ann Morrison (Lively) on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
She was born September 4, 1960, in Sydney, to the late Joseph and Margaret (Hayes) Lively.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband, Gary Morrison; daughters, Amanda Morrison-Penny (Kyle) and Danielle Morrison (Brad Polegato); nephew/son, Matthew Lynk (Nicole Mintus); grandchildren, Jessica Cann, Brittney Lynk and Trent Lynk; siblings, Mike Lively and Rachel (Michael) Ferrar; many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends; and special friends, Maryette Steele, Mary Lynk, Cleta McCullogh, Josephine MacLeod, Bonnie Woodworth and Paul Vienneau.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Ben, Joseph, Neil and Sam Lively; sisters, Cibbs “Sadie” MacMullin and Florence Lewis; and best friend, Liz Cameron.
Mary Ann loved spending time with family and friends, going for drives with Gary, daily telephone calls with her girls and bowling, back in the day. She enjoyed working as a secretary for Cape Breton Dairy, grounds supervisor and cook for Malcolm Munroe Junior High School, caregiver to Bob, Sandy, Loretta and Theresa at Dutch Brook Guest Home and as a cook in the Skillet Restaurant at Zellers.
Mary Ann had a big heart and always loved and cared for everyone else over herself. She opened her heart and home to anyone in need, always referring to it as, “The Do-Drop-In”.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, January 16th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, January 17th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Doug Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
