Obituary For Monica Lynn Lappenbush
November 22, 1969 – December 30, 2023
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Monica Lynn Lappenbush (Breland) on December 30, 2023, at the age of 54 after a short 3-month battle of stage 4 lung cancer. Monica was born in Peace River, AB on November 22, 1969. She grew up in the Peace Country and resided in Grande Prairie, Alberta at the time of her passing.
Monica married Teddy Lappenbush on February 14, 2000. They welcomed three beautiful children into the world, Braden, Ashlyn, and Jazmyn. They later separated down the road but remained best friends. Motherhood came naturally for Monica, being their mom quickly became Monica’s world. Her love and pride for her kids was intangible. You couldn’t get too far into a conversation with Monica without her bringing up a story about one of her kids.
Monica, no matter where she went, was quick to make a friend. To know her was to love her. Monica had a contagious, upbeat personality that captivated everyone. She was the type of woman who could be going through the toughest times, but she would do so with a smile on her face.
Her daughters will forever miss her vibrant smile and energy, her 24/7 phone calls, and texts, or just coming over to hangout. Being there for them no matter the time or situation. Staying up despite being tired just to make sure they made it home safe. Monica’s love for her son Braden was unbreakable, “her first born, her baby”. She was so proud when he made her a grandma. Hearing Esther call for “Obama”, and Jackson and Lillith singing her “you are my sunshine”.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Braden, Ashlyn, and Jazmyn; her grandchildren Esther, Lillith, and Jackson; and her partner, Chris; numerous family members and friends; and everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
Meeting her in heaven is her long-time best friend, Teddy Lappenbush; her father, Isidore Breland; her mother, Dorothy Breland; and her sister, Edie Scarlett.
“Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. And if I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. Amen.”
