William (Bill) Coomber Obituary
Peacefully, with family by his side, just shy of his 89th birthday, Bill entered into eternal rest at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital on Friday January 5, 2024.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jocelyn (Dorval), his 4 children, Rick (George), Rosanne (Dave), Randy (Rena), and Robin (Chris). His 7 grandchildren, Alyson, Jesslyn (Dalton), Joelle, Dylan (Dawn), Ryan (Alexandra), Will, and Jacob. He will also be lovingly remembered by his 6 great grandchildren.
Bill & Jocelyn were long time residents of Waterdown, Ontario where Bill was the town Constable from 1959 to 1967. Following his employment with the Village of Waterdown, he was employed by the Hamilton Wentworth Police Department where he patrolled Waterdown and his hometown of Dundas, Ontario until his retirement in 1993. When they retired, they sold the family home and moved to their summer home in Mount Forest, Ontario and their winter home in Port Orange, Florida. During the summers in Mount Forest, Bill was very active with the park owners helping with maintenance and social events. He also enjoyed many rounds of golf with his friends in both Ontario and Florida.
Bill was a member of the Hamilton Flying Club in his younger days where he enjoyed flying his single engine planes. He was a Freemason with the Masonic Lodge and a lifetime member of the Waterdown Lodge A.F. & A.M No 357, G.R.C.
Special thanks to Dr. Mankarius, Dr. Fischer, and all the doctors, nurses and support staff on 5 south and 4 south ICU at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington.
At Bill’s request, there will be no visitation or service. A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
Bill would appreciate donations be made in his memory to any one of his favorite charities; Juravinski Cancer Clinic, Hamilton Health Sciences, St. Joseph’s Healthcare, and the War Amps.
