Gerald Forneri
1929 – 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gerald S. Forneri in Wiarton, Ontario on January 4, at the age of 94. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth C. Duff. He will be missed by his sister-in-law Carol Duff, nieces Cathy Pressenger, Susan Tremblay, Judy Taun (Ross), and nephew, Dr. Steven Duff (Nancy).
Gerald was born and raised in Port Arthur where he attended elementary and secondary school. After graduating from university, he held various positions as an educator and principal throughout the Brampton area. He was beloved by all of the students who were lucky enough to pass through his classrooms and by his colleagues whom he worked with and supported throughout the years.
Gerald retired in 1985; spending the summers with Elizabeth at their cottage in Balsam Lake and winters in Englewood, Florida. They relocated to Tillsonburg in 2000. Gerald was an avid gardener, an energetic Euchre player, talented clockmaker and generous philanthropist within the community.
Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519) 842-5221 on Thursday January 11, 2024 from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Funeral service to begin at 2:00pm with interment taking place in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and may be done directly with the charity or via cheque payable to the charity by contacting the funeral home.
