With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lenny Hystek on January 4, 2023 at 69 years of age. Daughter of the late Harry and Tena Schenk. Wife of the late Herb Hystek who passed away September, 5, 2021. She is survived by her three sons Brent and (Lynn), Eric and (Valerie), Nathan and (Heidi), and her nine grandchildren Blake, Kylie, Carter, William, Jace, Savanna, Paisley, Van and Vyla. Lenny is the sister of Pete and (Michelle) Schenk, Liz and (Kevin) Prosser, Mike and (April) Schenk.
Lenny went to highschool at CCI and attended Lambton College to become an R.N. She began her career at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chatham and transferred to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance when they merged. She enjoyed volunteering at Mission Thrift Store as well as her church, and spending time with all her grandchildren, family, and friends. Those that knew her will remember the joy she found being in her garden and her love of vacations, travel, and playing cards and scrabble with friends and family. She always had a book and puzzle on the go. Lenny was a faithful member of First Reformed Church. Her faith was an important part of her life and brought her much comfort, especially during her final days.
Visitation is to be held at First Reformed Church Sunday January 14th from 6-8:30pm. Funeral to be held at First Reformed Church on Monday, January 15th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Reformed Church Missions.
