It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Ken Martin, husband of Alice (Caissie) Martin of Big River, which occurred Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024, at the Foyer Notre Dame-de-Lourdes in Bathurst.
Born in Campbellton, he was the son of the late Henry and Nellie (Jagoe) Martin.
Besides his wife of over fifty years, he is survived by his daughters: Johanne (Stephen) and Michele, both of Bathurst. Two special granddaughters, Sarah and Emma whom he raised as his own. One grandson, Ian and his beloved dog, Daisy.
Ken leaves behind his brothers: Marson, Cassidy, Willie, Terry, Alton, Ronnie, Randy and Matthew and his sisters: Evelyn, Joy, Jean, Sandra, Sheila and Teresa.
He is also survived by several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: Byron and Mike and his sister, Annie.
Ken worked at Brunswick Mines just shy of 40 years. He stayed until the end. He was a long-standing member of the Mine Rescue Dragermen Club. He was part of the team that assisted in the Westray Mine Disaster.
He was a big Nascar fan, having attended a race in New Hampshire to see his beloved driver, Dale Earnhardt Sr.
